Oh, god, my hipster boner is making my skinny jeans unbearable.
Arcade Fire won the Grammy for album of the year and now Radiohead has announced the name of their new album and the fact that it’s finished, which means that a million Coachella-goers and lovers of all things atmospheric and foreboding will spend the next few days chewing the fabric of their collective hats in anticipation of Thom Yorke’s nonrhyming vocals, stage shows that educe altered states, and Jonny Greenwood’s creepy and melodic backing. Basically, everything that makes Pitchfork drool all over itself every 3-4 years and spit out hyperbole that’d match THE HAND OF GOD.
The new record is called ‘King of Limbs’, and it’ll be released this Saturday, February 19th as a digital download for $9 or $14, can I get an amen? The price is fixed this time, a Bruce-Lee styled slap in the face to people who wanted Radiohead to usher in the era of music that costs absolutely nothing.
You’ll be able to download it in WAV or MP3 formats. Go to a favorite coffee shop, or vintage poster store, or American Apparel, and listen to it in quiet appreciation of Thom Yorke’s jerky dance movements and brilliant mind.
