Christina Aguilera’s Super Bowl 2011 Apology

By Tiffany on February 7th, 2011

If you didn’t watch Christina Aguilera open up the SuperBowl 45 last night with her rendition of the National Anthem – then you probably heard about it this morning.

Yes she F$%d up

It happened around the song’s fourth line – Instead of singing “O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?” She sang, ”What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last gleaming?”

To be honest though — it could have been worse. While the song ended up being about 30 seconds longer than it needed to be, we have to remember here – It’s Christina Aguilera. I’m surprised she didn’t turn the anthem into 10 minutes of nonsense where she showcased the highs and lows of her voice in a “I can sing better than you” song rant. I think she’s starting to mature and realize that no one cares about the anthem – we just want to watch the game.

So while she did screw up I think Aguilera showed us that she’s not as annoying as she used to be – and for that I salute her.

This morning Christina issued an apology that said:  ”I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.”

Here’s the mess up for all you savages:

What did you think of the Anthem?

Screw you, I care about our National Anthem. christina aguilera screwed it up badly. What she said after was not an apology as much as an excuse an apology includes the words "I'm Sorry". Her rendition of our Anthem was also awful, too much embellishment.

Yeah, we all "care" about our National Anthem. But I bet nobody knows how many verses this song even has. Some of the other verses aren't as PC these days, so they get no play. Who cares. She made a mistake.

What is sad is that the messing up the words at this point is better than her going on and on. sometimes honey, the song is not about you and your runs. get over yourself.
