We can ascertain something interesting happened on American Idol – the Wonderbread of television.
This year, Idol has been predictably getting into the headlines again, by injecting new life (judges), new drama (Chris Medina and his fiancé), and the same old contestants eager to make their impact on Hollywood. Wild cards are usually nary to be seen, but when you’ve been touring since the late seventies with a hell-raising outfit the likes of which have made Jerry Garcia gag on the corndogs he loved so much — things generally happen. So eyebrows were raised when Fox issued an advance apology for Steven Tyler’s behavior on today’s episode of American idol…but for what?
Drum roll…he said the word fuck. That’s right. Steven Tyler went buck-wild and said a curse word. Viewers are lucky that’s all he did. Realistically, he could’ve had sex with every female contestant three times on camera if he realllllly felt like it. Thankfully he was being restrained by the leather cocoon that has become his body, a table that’s hard to overturn because it’s resting under Randy Jackson’s hands, and an army of scarfs.
Steven Tyler said a swear word. It’s internet news. But still doesn’t make American Idol exciting.
