Fans of The Office are going to be thrilled with this news. As Steve Carell begins to exit his role as Michael Scott on the hit series, producers are trying desperately to keep viewers interested and have found the perfect person to help maintain (or increase) viewership: Will Ferrell.
It has just been confirmed that the hilarious actor will make his transition from movies to television with his role as a branch manager who is just as incompetent as Michael Scott.
Paul Liberstein, executive producer of the show, jokes about Will Ferrell’s new role and how he thinks viewers will appreciate their decision to add him to the cast:
“We found Steve Carell when he was nothing but a movie star and we turned him into a television star. We are proud to continue The Office‘s tradition of discovering famous talent, and we hope that once America gets a good look at Will, they’ll see what we see: tremendous raw sexuality.”
Ferrell has been signed on for four episodes (three with Steve Carell and one episode after Michael leaves).
Could Will Ferrell become the new Michael Scott?
