Wondering what the writers of The Office are going to do now that Steve Carell is leaving for greener pastures and more of a quiet schedule? They’re going to bring in the big guns.
Steve Carell IS The Office. The part of a man who doesn’t know that he’s cast in a comedy, the child-like enthusiasm, the ineptitude and all of that was effortlessly infused into a role that might’ve just been a Will Ferrell level dolt. Where all he could do was yell and look confused. Now, The Office is employing the talents of Will Ferrell to ostensibly just do that. To yell and berate Dunder Mifflin with his paralyzing blend of confidence, sexuality, and slovenliness. So, this season we lose Steve Carell, Ricky Gervais is guesting, and now they’re throwing in Will Ferrell?
I give The Office two more years. There’s no way they’re able to pull this type of stunt casting without an endgame in mind. Maybe Ferrell will come in, blow up Dunder Mifflin, then yell at the ruins.
Ferrell will be starring in a 4-episode-arc, so not in doses so heavy that you get bored of him. Carell and Ferrell previously starred in Bewitched together. Which nobody saw.
