Herschel Walker Considers a Football Comeback

By James Sheldon on January 25th, 2011

This guy is definitive athlete.

He’s 48, and recently stated that he would like to potentially come back to the ranks of professional football and give it another go. If you’re a fan of Herschel Walker, you’re well aware that at 48 years of age, he is probably in better shape that he was in his 20s, being voted to Pro Bowls in the NFL after breaking records in the USFL.

He is presently working his way up the ranks in the realm of MMA, and to look at the guy, you’d think he was in his 20s or 30s–never would you look at him and think, “That dude’s almost 50.”

Who knows how serious he is about the football comeback, but he has said this repeatedly–that he could come back to the NFL at 50 and compete with the athletes that are half his age. Walker also claims that he hasn’t been doing his track work as of late, but that in the past year, when he was working his speed on a regular basis, he was still around 4.4 in the 40. That’s really quite insane.

I suppose his trick to sustaining his physique and puttin’ a whoopin’ on the young fighters, and potentially defensive backs, is the fact that he’s a vegetarian–wait, what? That can’t be right. Yep. It’s right. He’s a vegetarian.

Walker “knows” that he could help an NFL team–that he could contribute–and he is interesting in playing for two squads: Potentially Minnesota, but hopefully Atlanta. He is a Georgia boy, after all.
