Kanye West is a big ball of enthusiasm. He’s always been pegged as a giant douchebag, with his insecurities leaking into his music – but he’s an enthusiastic douchebag, who will give you all of his flaws through a loudspeaker.
That loudspeaker is often Twitter, where West will go to reveal her innermost internecine conflicts between his ego and his personal life. Like, he can’t find cherub rugs, he’s throwing bassoon on goddamn tracks, and basically anything that Tracy Jordan would say. Most recently? That his next album is coming in two months with Jay-Z, and the follow-up to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is going to hit stores this summer. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is the album that Pitchfork, hipster publication extraordinaire, gave a perfect ten to – yet the album that’s failed to live up in sales to Kanye’s previous outings. So Kanye’s going to drop another few fast, so he can do the talk show rounds, tour, and complain more about how terrible it is to live in a gilded cage.
And what a gilded cage he lives in – rumor has it we have Kanye to blame for encouraging Kim Kardashian to start a music career.
