MTV decided to do a ballsy thing and air a total remake of the series that helping rejuvenate British teen dramas. Ballsy as in stealing it from the UK and basically remaking it exactly without changing any situations and dropping the English colloquialisms.
But apparently America is much more of a prude place than England, as Viacom is panicking that they might be sued for violating child pornography statutes. That the Parents Television Council is pointing out. The PTC is the same organization that has protested Gossip Girl and innumerable other television shows for not being full of god-fearing white people who have problems like building picket fences that look right and decent. Because their dog might escape and smother the neighborhood children with cuteness. What do you want television to be, Touched By An Angel? We should celebrate anything that pushes the limits of an audience because we’re inundated with so much terrible media that we’ve become jaded. But there’s a scene featuring a 17-year-old running down the street with his backside exposed.
The series features mostly teenage actors, to make sure it has some form of authenticity when dealing with the insane and unbelievable plotlines you except from a more dramatic and terribly acted version of Degrassi. So the PTC is more shocked and confused by their fear-boners than ordinarily.
MTV has already been asked to tone down the series. Obviously, Britain is more fun than we are.

"Ballsy as in stealing it from the UK and basically remaking it exactly without changing any situations and dropping the English colloquialisms." Bryan Elsley, the CREATOR of the original Skins series CHOSE to bring the series to the U.S., supervised the casting and CHOSE to mirror the first episode from the UK Skins series. The rest of the US Skins episodes (excepting 2 other episodes) are going to be original.

The creator of the american version is the same one that made your tea sipping version in the first place. American actors will always be better anyway, get over it. Even if every episode was original but only the name was the same you would still complain.
