If you’ve forgotten, the Golden Globes were a few days ago, and Ricky Gervais did his damndest to make sure the event went from a ceremony where Hollywood reclines their neck backwards to kiss their own asses into a telling of truth and a destruction of egos.
To be fair, Hollywood does need to be talked down to every now and then – these are millionaires who star in movies every Christmas, like Tim Allen. Tim Allen. Tim Allen needs to be reminded that he is Tim Allen, and inexplicably rich from starring in a television series that would’ve never worked in any other time besides the early 90’s and late 80’s. But still – some complain that the tone of the evening went from drunken, ridiculous fun to Ricky Gervais just breaking rapport consistently with an entire room of people, and then later the audience.
I love Gervais, but the jokes were far, far too easy. He doesn’t care though – and it has been announced that he’ll be guest-starring in The Office as his character from the British series – David Brent. Which is huge news to anyone who has ever seen either series.
Though the British version is immeasurably more intelligent and hilarious. Here we just HURRRPDERRP, marry characters and destroy all build-up of sexual tension.

The OFFICEs are two completely different shows. The US OFFICE is an ensemble piece. The Brit version is about a pathetic loser who dreams of becoming a famous entertainer. Wait--that's what EXTRAS was about. Geez, this guy has less range than Tim Allen!
