Awards shows season is fast approaching, and you know what that means. Mindless accolades will be lavished on movies that somebody wants you to see. In four-hour broadcasts. The first up? The People’s Choice Awards.
You can tell a lot about a person by their choices. Like, if they’d rather spend a night watching The X-Files or watching Grown Ups in theaters. If they’d rather watch Grown Ups in theaters, chances are they’ve had a piano dropped on their head, or they’re 14. Or maybe they’re a member of the People’s Choice Awards voting bloc, where the movie inexplicably picked up Best Comedy. Alongside Eclipse, which garnered the favorite movie award.
So are the People’s Choice Awards just voted on by people, or the worst people who can vote? Or do the publicists from all the movies that did well at the box office figure that they need another pat on the back, and arrange an awards ceremony just so they can do that?
Or is everyone’s Favorite New TV Comedy REALLY $#*! My Dad Says? Because I will pay a princely sum to anyone who can find a living soul who watches that show.
