This is the time of year manna is rained down on us in the form of tiny cookies. This is the time for Girl Scouts.
If you’ve never eaten a Girl Scout cookie, I have no idea what to say to you. It’s hard describing putting heaven in your mouth – which is incidentally the title of a rejected Cinderella song from the early 80’s. But the beloved cookies can sell in excess of 200 million boxes – half of which will be eaten by my friends and loved ones in ‘sleeve competitions’, where we see how quickly the other person can eat an entire of sleeve of cookies without being sick afterwards.
You can order the cookies online, or wait for a Girl Scout to come to your door – a prospect that’s much less likely to happen if you live in the city. Because they don’t want to be kidnapped, you see. A girl going door to door looks good to potential kidnappers – but a girl going around with free cookies looks even better.
If you’re wondering about the record number of boxes of Girl Scout cookies sold, it’s 17,328 – sold by Jennifer Sharpe from Dearborn, Michigan.
That’s a lot of cookies. I intend to eat that amount in a week.
