The dream we all had of having a space to ourselves on the internet is slowly dying. Slowly.
Myspace was the first social networking site to explode in a major way – and it did, with over 100 million user profiles, and web traffic that beat Facebook consistently in the years after it was acquired by Newscorp. But then people realized they were still browsing on Myspace, a site known for viruses, music, and ghettolicious profiles. Ever been to a Myspace page that’s still active? It’s like you’re entering a gangbang zone for sparkles and weirdly angled profile pictures.
Myspace also managed to launch the careers of several (somewhat notable) (at least, for the next few years) (I mean, they were notable, but nobody’s going to remember them in a hot minute) celebrities such as Dane Cook and Tila Tequila – and as their profile has fallen, so has Myspace’s. Maybe it’s a coincidence. Maybe not.
Anyway, Myspace is laying off over half of their employees in an emergency bid to restructure the company and save their name. Good luck to them. The only thing I can say is at least they’ll have their pick of soundtracks to do the firing to. And maybe some models that can hold signs. Sad signs.

Yes. Rupert Murdoch reportedly is trying to unload it for the fraction of the price he is paying for it. I am not a fan of Facebook or Twitter myself. Looking for a new upstart to compete, such as Koowie. It's a new social network website connecting people based on each of our thoughts. http://koowie.com. Check it out.
