Christina Scavo and Shannon O Toole, former massage therapists for the New York Jets, claim that they too were victims of sexual harassment by NFL quarterback, Brett Favre. They are suing Favre and the Jets for losing their jobs after complaining about the alleged sleazy texts sent to them by the football star.
“Brett here. You and Crissy want to get together? I’m all alone,” he wrote in one text. “Kinda lonely tonight, I guess I have bad intentions [via the New York Daily News].”
Christina -pictured right [via the Daily Post] in what is likely not the best photo she’s ever taken – says Brett often “eyed her like a hanging slab of beef,” and that the quarterback refused to apologize for his behavior, even after the massage therapist told her husband about the texts and he confronted the NFL’er on the phone.
After the incident, Christina and Shannon – who reportedly got Christina a job with the Jets organization – say they were no longer brought back to work again.
The lawsuit claims the team was aware that the locker room and training camp were a “hotbed of sexual harassment” but did nothing about it, while Christina and Shannon reportedly waited to sue because they wanted to see what happened in Jen Sterger’s case. Last week, Brett was fined $50,000 by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for failing to fully cooperate in the league’s investigation of Jen’s harassment allegations.
“But since they did nothing we realized we weren’t going to get any solace from the NFL or the Jets, so we brought [the suit],” the womens’ lawyer, David Jaroslawicz said.
The Jets have denied any wrongdoing, telling USA Today in a statement: “Unfortunately, the plaintiffs never reported the allegations to the Jets, either during or after the conclusion of their work. The case against the Jets is completely without merit, and we look forward to defending the matter in court, where we are confident that the Jets will prevail.”
