Facebook Is The Most Visited Site On The Web

If you’ve been checking your profile, updating your status with hilarious witticisms and uploading pictures, you just made Mark Zuckerberg another billion dollars. Facebook is the most visited site on the interwebs.

Which means they’ve overtaken Google, their number one competitor. Facebook accounted for 8.3% of all recorded US traffic between January and November of 2010. For ever 100 people that were signing onto the internet, 8 people and a dog were checking their Facebook profile. Which is an incredible statistic. Apparently, the privacy issues dogging the website and negative portrayal in the media with the release of The Social Network were completely insignificant in affecting Facebook traffic.

Facebook has also been trying to transition to a new format which summarizes you in a few sentences and increases the size of their advertiser’s, uh, advertisements. But with 500 million plus users, it’s not going anywhere.

Which means in the New Year, your resolution should be to check your Facebook far less. I mean, it’s not going anywhere. You should go outside. When was the last time you checked on your estranged daughter?

Get your act together. You have things to do. Facebook is for teenagers and old people trying to adapt. Live your life.

Happy New Year.
