Terrelle Pryor Busted for Improper Benefits

By James Sheldon on December 23rd, 2010

Doesn’t that phrase just make it sound dirty? Improper benefits? It makes it seem like someone did something with a really cheap hooker.

No. Not in this case. It’s just the NCAA being the NCAA and suspending Terrelle Pryor and four other Ohio State University football players for receiving improper benefits. In this case, it looks as if all Terrelle’s tattoos were the subject of the investigation. That he and others offered autographs for their tattoos. Personally, I think it’s bogus that the NCAA can also determine what is considered a legitimate form of payment for services. At its essence, that’s what this country was built on. Don’t have the coin? Can we exchange mutually beneficial services?

This is breaking news as of this morning, so not all of the details are known about the investigation. What is known is the fact that the suspension will begin next year, and will cost Terrelle as well as the other guilty parties, the first five games on the season.

What I don’t understand is why they don’t just suspend him now? For the Sugar Bowl. Oh, wait, I can answer that myself. Because the NCAA is the biggest bunch of hypocrites on the face of the planet, and one of the most corrupt organizations in the world–and they do it all in the name of fairness and education. Suspend him for the Sugar Bowl? Are you kidding? And hurt the TV ratings? Hurt the ad revenue? Potentially hurt game attendance? Expose the fraudulent BCS even more? There’s too much money to be made to suspend the kid now…it’ll have to wait until next year!

Terrelle Pryor immediately offered a rebuttal via Twitter, because that’s the way we role these days, stating that he paid for all his tattoos. So. Will OSU appeal the decision? I would think so.

This is just more stupidity led by the most out-of-touch, antiquated, broken governing body that this country has to offer. Yeah. The NCAA is even worse than Ben Bernanke and the Federal Reserve. Maybe we can sick Ron Paul on the NCAA after he’s done with the Fed.
