Spider-Man Actor Injured on Stage (Watch!)

An actor performing in the Broadway musical ‘Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark’ was injured during a performance Monday night.

The accident occurred just seven minutes before the end of the show during a scene where Spider-Man is rescuing his love interest, Mary Jane, as she dangles from a bridge by only a rope, New York Times Arts Beat reports.

Steven Tartick who was in the audience of Monday’s show, said he saw the actor playing Spider-Man appear to trip and fall from the bridge, landing in an open pit at the end of the stage.  “You heard screams,” Steven said.  “You heard a woman screaming and sobbing.”

The injured actor is thought to be Spider-Man ensemble cast member and aerialist, Christopher Tierney.

A representative for ‘Spider-Man’ told the New York Times via email, “An actor sustained an injury at tonight’s performance of ‘Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.’  He fell several feet from a platform approximately seven minutes before the end of the performance, and the show was stopped.  All signs were good as he was taken to the hospital for observation.  We will have more news shortly.”
