Porn star Derrick Burts reveals he is HIV positive, and wants condoms to be a must in all adult films. The 24-year old – known as Derek Chambers in gay films, and Cameron Reid in straight films – has identified himself as the actor who tested positive for the HIV virus in October.
Only known as ‘Patient Zeta’ at the time, Derrick discovered he was HIV positive from a routine check up at the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation in California. The result led to the shutdown of two of the industry’s biggest production companies for almost a month.
Though the clinic claimed that Derrick had contracted the virus “through private, personal activity,” the actor says that couldn’t have been further from the truth. He’d only slept with his girlfriend in his personal life, the New York Daily News reports, and she tested negative for the disease.
It’s more likely that he contracted HIV from a costar Derrick performed with who was “known positive.” According to the Los Angeles Times [via the New York Daily News] the gay porn industry does not require negative test results before filming.”
Derrick used condoms during intercourse while shooting, but not during oral sex.
“It’s very dangerous,” he said. “It should be required that you wear a condom on set.”
The porn star reportedly identified himself as ‘Patient Zeta’ because he wanted to speak out in favor of enforcing mandatory condom use on adult film sets. “Making $10,000 or $15,000 for porn isn’t worth your life,” Derrick continued. “Performers need to be educated.”

Derrick Burts new the risk of unprotected sex so , now he trying to say he wish that he wished he had a better understanding about the transmission of HIV. Where the hell has he live all his life , on Mars because anyone on this planet with half a brain knows enough about the transmission of HIV and unprotected sex to take extra precautions, especially a porn actor. He can continue to play stupid ( sorry maybe he isn't playing maybe he really is stupid) or play the roll of poster boy so we'll all feel sorry for him. At what point is this generation going to except responsibility for their actions . It is a sad reality that this man has to suffer with this disease for the rest of his life , Unfortunately it boils down to a choice of lifestyle and stupidity.
