At this point, if we give press to every ridiculous thing Glenn Beck says, we’ll never be able to get on with our daily lives – you can’t give press to crazy people. Because they’ll keep doing crazy things so they can keep getting more press.
Which is exactly the dynamic that Beck has mastered – the agitation and the leaving. The fucking and the riling – Beck is a master at it. And like most pundits who get paid to proselytize to crowds, Beck has said something stupid this week. Very stupid. About Muslims – another easy target for the pundits and hate-mongers of the right.
And here it is – 10 percent of all Muslims are terrorists. 10 percent. For every 10 Muslims on the planet, one of them is planning on going into a crowded place and offing themselves and hundreds of other people. For every 10, one is going to devise a way of strapping bombs on themselves and blowing themselves up. For every 10, one hates the Western way of doing things and would rather kill the people around them than coexist peacefully.
There are 1.57 billion Muslims on the planet, so by Beck’s logic there are over 100 million terrorists waiting to blow up MURRIKA.
