In addition to hoping for some Oscar magic of their own this year, Anne Hathaway and James Franco have been asked by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to host the 83rd annual Academy Awards.
Deadline reported the news early Monday morning, revealing that it “looks like” the uncharacteristically young potential hosts would accept the offer – and they have!
The Academy confirmed the news via tweet that Anne and James would be this year’s Oscar hosts.
“OFFICIAL: James Franco & Anne Hathaway to host #Oscars. Tweet them your advice! #Hosts#Oscars,” they wrote.
In a press release [via Deadline], the Academy went into more detail about their choice of hosts.
“James Franco and Anne Hathaway personify the next generation of Hollywood icons – fresh, exciting and multi-talented. We hope to create an Oscar broadcast that will showcase their incredible talents and entertain the world… We are completely thrilled that James and Anne will be joining forces with our brilliant creative team to do just that.”
James, 32, and Anne, 28, will be the youngest duo ever to host the exclusive awards show, which will air February 27, 2011. Will you watch?
