Vince Young Meltdown – Is Jeff Fisher to Blame?

By James Sheldon on November 22nd, 2010

Football fans!

You gotta love when a player gets a little upset, and chucks their pads and jersey into the stands. Yeah, that’s what Vince Young did yesterday. Well, sort of.

Because the NFL protects their image and their video like Knox protects the gold, I’ve got nothing for you, other than this tasty link.

Vince Young, embattled quarterback for the Tennessee Titans–you know the guy, right? Maybe on your fantasy squad?Vince Young injured a flexor tendon in his thumb, and was removed from the game for evaluation.

After being checked out, he wanted to give it a go and returned to the field where he was told by head coach Jeff Fisher that he would not be returning to the game. Not based on the injury, but based on the fact that Fisher felt that Young wasn’t moving the team down the field effectively…even though the game was tied at 13.

I have it on good authority that Jeff Fisher can’t stand Vince Young. Regardless of what he tells the media, Fisher does not want to play Young, regardless of him winning or losing as a quarterback. He doesn’t like him, and Vince Young knows it. Young has given him more than enough reason not to like him due to off-field issues. Then again, Fisher has always loaded some odd pressure on Young, atypical of what you’d put on any other starting quarterback. Ah, 7th grade drama in one of the world’s biggest businesses. It’s just awesome. But who’s to blame here?

Vince Young always tosses stuff into the stands: Cleats, wrist bands, jersey. He stated yesterday that he was just trying to get his jersey to the daughter of the team’s Executive Vice President, who is one of his most supportive fans. He was so frustrated that he just took off the pads and the jersey and put ‘em up there. Another example of Vince Young needing to grow up some more.

Regardless of Young’s immaturity, I don’t get the odd relationship between Jeff Fisher and the Tennessee Titans organization and fan base. Other than the Super Bowl appearance from the season that took place 11 years ago, what’s with the love? I’ve seen more mismanagement from this guy than from the Fed with our money. I think Jeff Fisher, I think “dude who threw Eddie George to the dogs, and cut his career short.” I think Jeff Fisher, I think “dude who got to a Super Bowl based on a ‘The Music City Miracle.’” I think Jeff Fisher, I think “dude whose job was saved by Vince Young last season.”

These two need a clean slate. Fisher can coach, and Young is a solid player, but I don’t see a compromise on the horizon. It’s all gonna come down to Bud Adams, owner of the franchise, and I’ll boldly state that he’ll fire Fisher before he lets Vince Young go to another team. It’s a sad thing when ego gets in the way of what could be common ground and a whole lot of wins!

Will Jeff Fisher is the one who left, probably force out, so I would say someone thought it was his fault. After all, no ones going to go to the sports fan shop and spend money on a Jeff Fisher jersey. But they will spend money on a Vince Young sports throw blanket. http://stfos.com
