Chicago Is Bad At Coordinating Logistics

By Mark Lorenz on November 19th, 2010

Seriously, Chicago? This is the type of thing you’re going to pull? I don’t know if any of you follow collegiate football, but Northwestern is playing Illinois. But they’re playing each other Midwestern style?

Which means they’re badly organized and playing in Wrigley Field. Wrigley Field, for the laymen, is built for BASEBALL. A game that’s diametrically opposed to baseball, with completely different measurements, so what’re they doing? They’re making one goal post. All the offense will have to run in one direction. As a former Chicagoan, this wouldn’t be offensive, if they hadn’t planned the event MONTHS in advance. Literally. People got together, sat down at a desk, DECIDED that a collegiate football event would be great to host in Wrigley Field and it’d be fruitful to rip out one of the goal posts.

I just, I don’t know. I don’t know what to say. It’s a miracle that Northwestern has a football team, you don’t need to deride the whole proceeding by giving them one goalpost. It’s like putting Cal Tech’s basketball team in a geodesic dome, so you can watch them run in one direction. It’s just mean.

The game is tomorrow. They’re probably going to air it, and laugh at our poor city transcontinentally.

You take the good with the bad.
