Four Loko Banned?

By Mark Lorenz on November 18th, 2010

There goes my entire weekend – I was going to chug a bunch of Four Loko and whatever happens, happens. But now I can’t because of our nanny state. They’ve banned energy drinks containing alcohol.

It’s beyond me how the chemicals they’ve managed to mix together in energy drinks are any more harmful to your body than alcohol. Have you ever had an energy drink? They give you the shakes worse than palsy, you’re constantly licking your teeth, and you’re looking for windowsills to have sex with. It’s hell on earth – HELL. But for some reason, adding alcohol makes it bad? Are we going to ban vodka Redbulls? Or rum and cokes?

The FDA has ruled that caffeine is an unsafe additive to alcoholic beverages, and will therefore shut down sales of Four Loko, Joose, and other such – AND I’M QUOTING – dangerous and toxic drinks. What prompted the hostility towards Four Loko? Not a wild night out that judges regret, but a rash of college students getting sick from drinking too much of it.

Come on. We could ban mustard for the same reasons. Or antifreeze, or those dusters you use for cleaning out the computer hardware of spiders and mites.

We’ve inhaled and drank them all.

Your stupid. It is UNSAFE! Rum and coke...are you kidding me? you cant actually use that as a prop...If you knew what you were talking about you would know that the amount of caffiene in the four loko is twice as much as in an 8oz cup of coffee..NOT only is it an energizer working against a depressant but any caffeine in high levels are dangerous...You said energy drinks are hell...wtf makes alcohol in the mix any less hell?? Im sorry that you cant get as messed up on something just as cheap and dangerous but its to save the dumb teenagers from drinking six of them at a time nearly killing themselves. ITS STUPID!

First of all, don't call people stupid when you don't have a valid argument. Caitlin, you're exactly right; it's illegal for kids to be drinking these, so outlawing them based on this notion proves that the government is following a false logic here (surprise, surprise!) It's just a novelty, a new concept that will lose its appeal just like Jagerbombs did. I've been asking the same question that this blog posting raises: are we going to outlaw those now, too? I'm so sick of the government protecting us from ourselves. If we want to get wasted and make stupid decisions, that's our prerogative. If you don't like the idea of a Four Loko, don't drink it. It's that simple.
