As Steve Nash welcomed a new baby, he also put an end to his five year marriage. The basketball star made a statement to the media announcing his son Matteo’s birth and at the same time, the dissolution of his marriage to wife and baby mamma, Alejandra Amarilla. The couple already had twin daughters together, Lola and Bella.
“I am very thankful and excited that we have a new son, Matteo Nash. Alejandra and the baby are doing fine,” Steve said in a statement. “But this is a bittersweet moment for my wife and I; after five years, we are now in the process of dissolving our marriage.”
Steve and Alejandra had been living separately for several months; however both remain committed to raising their young children.
“I want only good things for Ale going forward; right now, I’m focused on ensuring that our children understand how much they’re loved and adored by us as they continue to adjust to these changes,” the two-time NBA MVP continued.
Steve, 36, currently plays for the Phoenix Suns, signing a 6-year deal for $63 million with the team in 2004.
