Shortly after midnight on Monday a new Michael Jackson song, ‘Breaking News’ was posted to MichaelJackson.com. The song, which sounds awesome, is Michael’s perspective on the media, and the way that it treated him through the years.
“Everybody wanting a piece of Michael Jackson / Reporters stalking the moves of Michael Jackson / Just when you thought he was done, he comes to give it again,” Michael sings.
Though TMZ reports that there is little doubt that the vocals are really Michael’s, since they know the time and place the song was said to be recorded – in 2007 at a home studio in New Jersey where Michael had been living with his family – there is debate about the authenticity of the track among Michael’s family members.
Michael’s Mom, Katherine, his sister, La Toya, and his children, Paris and Prince, do not believe it’s MJ’s voice on the song. “I listened to it… it doesn’t sound like him,” La Toya told TMZ. While Prince claims he was upstairs in the house where the songs were recorded, and none of what he heard matches the newly released track.
However, Sony music insists that the vocals are legit and that the kids are being “manipulated” by Katherine and other Jackson family members who don’t want the album released.

I was given Michael Jackson's new album for Christmas. Breaking News sounds like Michael, but sounds unfinished. I heard it in Accapella on youtube it does sound like Michael. Michael Jackson was capable of many ranges of voice, from high to low. I do believe that Michael would have never relased something as unfinished as it sounds. I just think they could have made a better choice.
