Conan O’Brien is Set to Return Tonight

I really want to write about Wade Phillips being fired, but I’ll save it. There are more important things that need to be discussed–specifically, the return of Conan O’Brien!

Team Coco, rejoice. Conan comes back tonight, to TBS, where things are purportedly “Very Funny.” We know Conan will be, and we know that George Lopez will enjoy more viewers than he probably ever has before–it’s a win-win for the cable network.

The quick details: TBS 11:00 EST (back to standard…I already miss daylight) 10:00 CST. If you have some of the west coast cable/dish providers, you can catch Conan at 8:00 PST, or at 11:00 PST on TBS-W.

Tonight’s guests include Seth Rogen, and a performance by Jack White, but it’s really all about the hoopla of the return and the driving question: What can/will Conan do now that he’s on TBS?

Yes, I hope he thrashes the national networks. I hope he offers a sweet smell in the stank that is late night TV. I hope he takes a few of the old skits, re-brands them outside of NBC jurisdiction and ownership and offers a big fat, “suck it” to the network that screwed him over–the network in which he served as an asset for over 15 years. But then, he’s classier than I, and rich enough that he doesn’t need to carry much of a grudge. But perhaps he’ll offer the rabid fans the zombie blood lust they desire–just once.

Here’s to Conan O’Brien; here’s to Conan’s fans–a group I’m proud to be a part of. Here’s to all of us putting it down tonight, post-primetime.
