I smell a vicious tirade coming on. Against the network that housed him, the executives that hosed him, and possibly people of all stripes that have donated to political campaigns at any point in history.
Keith Olbermann is exceptional at what he does. Which is bloviating. Imagine sitting next to him on a flight, as he spouts off on tangents about political affiliations, sports teams, and tea that he once drank in Tibet — it would be nearly insufferable. You’d probably try to walk off of the plane. But that same outspokenness has netted him a following of loyal liberals — who cling to his polysyllabic vocabulary like it’s a fire escape leading to rationality. Other people just find him really, really annoying. MSNBC president Phil Griffin found him in violation of MSNBC’s business practices when he donated to three Democratic candidates — representatives Raul Grijalva, Gabriel Giffords, and Kentucky Senate cantidate Jack Conway. The donation goes against MSNBC’s policy that political donations have to be run through the head brass before being approved.
Keith Olbermann thought he was above the policy, and now he’ll probably be circling around the studios slowly, yelling at anyone to give him a guest spot, and trying to stalk Rachel Maddow.
Because who wouldn’t stalk Rachel Maddow?
