Lil Wayne is a free man!
The rapper, who was released from New York’s Rikers Island jail early Thursday morning, served 8 months of his 1-year sentence for admittedly keeping a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic gun on his tour bus in Manhattan in 2007.
To celebrate his freedom, Wayne is heading to Miami, where his friends are holding a huge strip club party in his honor, Radar Online reports.
The Grammy-winner agreed to plead guilty to the weapons charge last October in exchange for a reduced 12-month sentence. Wayne was released after 8 months for good behavior.
While inside, the rapper corresponded with friends and fans through a website called, weezythanxyou.com. “I laughed with some of you, reasoned with some of you, and even cried with some of you,” he wrote on the website Tuesday. “I never imagined how much impact my words and life can have… I will be the same Martian I was when I left, just better.”
