UPS Planes Grounded, Trucks Searched

By James Sheldon on October 29th, 2010

This is some breaking news, so you’ll have to bear with me.

Multiple UPS planes have been inspected on the east coast, after arriving from Europe due to suspicious packages. These three planes have come from Paris, France; Cologne, Germany; and East Midlands, U.K. The FBI and the TSA have investigated these packages, yet few details have been released…officially. The planes arrived in Newark, NJ, as well as Philadelphia, PA.

A UPS truck was also confiscated in NYC, to be searched by local authorities and a bomb squad. Interesting, huh? This took place at the famed Queensboro bridge, where a package was removed from the truck and taken to Brooklyn to be analyzed. Top NYPD spokesperson, Paul Browne, stated that they believed the package that was taken from the truck was in fact, an explosive device. I’m sure we’ll know within the next 24 hours. Or this may be yet another “something” that we hear nothing else about. Remember American Airlines Flight 587?

This all began when a suspicious package was found in the U.K., containing an ink cartridge that had been manipulated and possessed wiring and some sort of white powder. After examining this package, it was found to possess no explosive materials–but would it have if “properly” manipulated?

Was it a sick joke? Definitely not. A terrorist bait and switch? Hmmm… We do live in interesting times.
