HBO’s Treme CD Giveaway! | Manolith Giveaways

By Tiffany on October 20th, 2010

The HBO series Treme, named for the historic neighborhood where jazz was born, follows musicians, chefs, Mardi Gras Indians and ordinary New Orleanians as they try to rebuild their lives, their homes and their unique culture in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.  One of the standout features of this series is the music, which plays an integral role in the show and in the city’s way of life.  To celebrate this, Geffen Records has digitally released the original soundtrack Treme: Music from the HBO Original Series, Season 1, with physical CDs available on October 26th.  In addition, videos featuring key musical performances by renowned artists appearing in the series will be available for digital download exclusively on iTunes October 1st. These full videos feature complete performances from various episodes of the HBO drama, as well as a few additional performances for which there wasn’t time in the episodes.

The soundtrack includes 19 tracks featuring music heard throughout the first season of this groundbreaking series, offering a cross-section of New Orleans-bred music that includes rhythm and blues, soul, jazz, rock and roll, funk, folk and country.  Artists heard on the soundtrack — and seen in the series — include John Boutté with series theme “Treme Song,” Steve Zahn’s –who plays DJ/musician Davis McAlary in the series – performance of “Shame, Shame, Shame,” Dr. John’s “Indian Red,” “Time Is On My Side” by Irma Thomas and Allen Toussaint, Steve Earle’s “This City” and much more music that evokes the tenor of the series and the spirit of New Orleans.  Experience the album for yourself on iTunes or Amazon.
