Bill Murray Hinting At Ghostbusters Sequel?

You have to give it to Bill Murray – the man knows how to live. He randomly shows up to parties in New York, bartends randomly at South by Southwest, and now apparently is hinting at the fact that there may be a Ghostbusters sequel.

Ghostbusters was one of the most beloved and cherished comedy franchises around the world – right behind the Meet the Parents series. Seriously, those Fokkers are popular in Germany. Don’t ask me why or how, it’s the same country that brings us myriad cinematic experiences of people running and pooping on each other. But it spawned one of the most popular cartoons of the 80’s, countless toys and baubles for you to blow money on, more cartoons in the 90’s and oughties and on and on and on. Now there’s rumored to be a sequel in the works – because if there’s one thing Hollywood needs, it’s more sequels.

But the world is crying out for a Ghostbusters resolution. What happened to Egon, Stantz, Venkman, and the other dude? To tease the audience, Murray appeared at the Spike TV scream awards dressed as Venkman, perhaps indicating that a sequel to the original was moving forward and would get the blogosphere’s teeth collectively chattering.

Well listen to us. We’re chattering away.

  1. Omg – Are you a total tool? you write about Ghostbusters and don’t know shit about it? were you assigned this article and thought.. whatever I already look like a douche so I’ll just drop some links on a page?

Here’s some facts for ya – 1. Ghostbusters 3 is already in the works, Murray was on late night t.v. and told the world that he agreed to do the next film only if he can be a ghost and Dan said okay. Next Weaver was at an opening weeks back were she let spill that the new film will have a grown up Oscar, the child from the 2nd film. Oscar is the new recruit and be mentored by the rest of the team. Lastly, it’s Winston Zedmore you collar popping tool!.

  2. And one more thing commander Tool, Egon, Spengler???? that’s the same fricken character.. it’s Stantz!! Ray Stantz!!! uuugh…

  3. Also don’t forget that Egon and Spengler is one person and Ray Stantz was not included there either.

  4. Actually Mark sounds like a bigger tool here.

Ghostbusters 3 has not been greenlit yet.

  5. If you look online you’ll see that there are tons of links that note the project has a green light status. Dan has twittered about it. Everything was hinged on getting Bill. They’re just approving the script at this point.

  6. Green lighting a project doesn’t mean JACK in this town, man.

And if this script is flowing in the vein of Ghostbusters 2 they should just toss it in the dunk tank now.

Regardless, there’s a lot of salaries to negotiate before the cameras start rolling on this beast, so don’t have your ectogasm yet.

  7. Though I do appreciate you using a face with your failed attempt at laying smack.

  8. lol – thanks for the update – but the movie will happen. Agreed GBII could have been a lot better. This film will happen, Ghostbusters video game sales will confirm there’s a market with the fans. The story for GB game was amazing and has renewed my faith in the franchise. Oh and I proudly wear my I’m an asshole badge where everyone can see it thanks for noticing.

  9. A dead Peter Venkman sounds just awful to me. There’s just nothing funny about that. I loved #’s I and II, not so into #3.
