Embezzlement is no laughing matter. Especially not after you get caught.
Dane Cook’s half brother, Darryl McCauley, will serve 5 to 6 months in prison for embezzling millions of dollars from the actor and comedian while he worked as his business manager.
The Boston Globe reports [via PEOPLE] that “Darryl McCauley pleaded guilty to 27 counts of larceny over $250, three counts of forgery, embezzlement and other charges.”
At one point Darryl even wrote himself a check for $3 million from Dane’s account.
Darryl first began transferring Dane’s money to his personal accounts in 2004, though he served as the comedian’s business manager from the early 1990’s until 2008.
A former corrections officer, Darryl will soon be spending time inside a cell, and will serve another 10 years probation after his release from jail. He must also make restitution to Dane.
Dane Cook has not yet commented on his half brother’s sentence.
