For those of you who love the McDonald’s McRib (my McDonalds go-to is the Quarter Pounder with cheese) you know that the elusive sandwich can be about as easy to find as bigfoot. It will appear at a location for a few weeks, and then just as suddenly disappear without a trace.
Well, if you’re always on the look-out for the McDonald’s McRib, then you’re in luck. The Atlantic is reporting that the sandwich will once again be appearing on McDonald’s menus in November. Thanks, no doubt (at least in part) to the avid McRib fans, who have created nearly 300 Facebook groups that pay homage their favorite fast food sandwich.
One such McRib enthusiast is Alan Klein, who began eating the McRib while growing up on a hog farm in South Dakota. In his mind, eating McRibs helped the family business. After going away to college, Alan had trouble finding the sandwich, but was able to enjoy the McRib while visiting the McDonald’s near his parents’ home. “It rekindled my love of McRibs and made me start thinking it would be nice to know where they were.”
Three years ago, Alan launched the McRib locator, so visitors can inquire about and report McRib sightings. At the time of writing his site appears to be down, likely due to high traffic volumes, but for true McRib enthusiasts the site, www.kleincast.com is worth making note of.
