Antoine Dodson Serenaded The BET Awards

By Mark Lorenz on October 14th, 2010

If your internet has been down for the last three months, you might not’ve heard of Antoine Dodson. Which is unfortunate for you. You may need to be sent to meme rehab, or meehab.

Where they force your eyes open with post-it’s, and you’re required to watch YouTube on loop until the sun burns up the Earth – in other words, hell. You’re required to go to hell if you haven’t heard of Antoine Dodsen. Basically, the legend goes that a man tried to sneak into Dodson’s home and rape his sister, but he managed to scare him away. Then the news crew came, and all kinds of commotion broke loose when Antoine paced and threatened that action needed to be taken before the rapist went all-out, targeting everyone’s families and raping them with abandon.

That clip somehow turned into a internet sensation. That internet sensation turned into another internet sensation, when the whitest people alive – the Gregory Brothers – took it, auto-tuned it, and got themselves another weirdly poignant internet sensation.

That sensation has gone too far. Antoine Dodson has serenaded the BET awards with his song, for a brief minute or so. Good for him – he got his mom out of the hood.

But if they make a made for TV movie, I will bed intrude someone.
