Heard of Die Antwoord? Well consider yourself edumacated. Die Antwoord is a craaaaazy South African hip hop band — Like bat $hit crazy. Like those outsider kids you knew in highschool that smoked a ton of weed and made wierd sounding music in their basement crazy. But they’re good. I didn’t want to admit that, but I will. Their videos are a mix of uncomfortably awkward & grungy eye candy images with catchy south african slang thrown in that you just can’t get out of your head.
Die Antwoord’s lead vocalist Ninja (born Watkin Tudor Jones) isn’t new to the South African hip hop music scene – he has been fronting bands like The Original Evergreens, MaxNormal.TV and The Constructus Corporation over the years. In 2009, he brought together Yo-Landi Vi$$er and DJ Hi-Tek to create Die Antwoord. Their debut album $O$ was released today.
All i can say is you gotta listen to it to appreciate it. You can watch their first single ” Enter the Ninja” below, and feel free to comment with your opinion on the band.
