If there’s one thing that I’m glad about it’s the fact that rich people can donate money to the causes they like, in between bouts of being completely and utterly staid.
*cough* What the hell were we just talking about? Social media and new technological contructs? I don’t know, man, turn on the blacklight. I’m going to tell you a story that’s both captivating and true. There once was a company called Facebook, right? Started up by a bunch of Harvard graduates who would otherwise have boatloads of money to get by on, you dig what I’m saying? So this dude, we’ll call him Mark Zuckerbot decided to make a generous donation to the New Jersey school systems, a donation that’ll surely be paid back tenfold with gym memberships and Affliction T-shirts.
But there were these other founders, Sean Parker and Dustin Moskovitz, who thought that a really cool thing to do would be to legalize marijuana in California, making it the happiest, blazingest, brokingest state in the world. Parker donated 100,000, Moskovitz gave about 70,000 to the measure. Neither men are still with Facebook – Sean Parker was ousted from his position as President after an arrest for cocaine possession.
They still likey the drugs.
Go see The Social Network, in theaters.
