We all knew Duke could play basketball, we knew they were a university boasting pretty outstanding academic standing but we could only assume that they could shag like porn stars–or harlots.
Within every prestigious mix, there’s bound to be a Philly, a sweet, young gal who has been ridden like Ruffian. Few sweet, young gals choose to boast of their sexual escapades, and even fewer sweet, young gals choose to use their escapades (I love that word) as their senior thesis.
If you’re unfamiliar, Karen Owen (I can’t verify whether it’s Owen or Owens) is a former Duke student who decided her desire to party could pay off academically. You can’t argue with such logic. However, you can certainly argue with her merit, moral compass and originality.
Anyone else seen Mallrats? Yeah, it was done before, by a high school chick in the fictional realm created by Kevin Smith.
Regardless, the Karen Owens’ F*** List, has raised more than a few eyebrows, has scored national attention and has set more than a few alumni, current students, Duke parents and administrative personnel on fire. Maybe even with syphilis–you never know with those chicks…or more so the dudes they’ve been with. In her study, Owen(s) targeted high-profile Duke athletes, and to say the least, there are more than a few!
When asked of her thoughts after her list went public, Owen expressed her regret:
“The people that are named in it are the kinds of people that everyone wants to be or be with,” Owens said, “I regret it with all my heart. I would never intentionally hurt the people that are mentioned on that.”
I don’t know if she actually learned anything from her thesis, but she certainly knows how to make some graphs and build a PowerPoint.
