RIP, Tony Curtis.

Wow. Between Greg Giraldo and Tony Curtis, the world has lost a collective ton of talent this week.

I’ve been walking around today, thinking about Tony Curtis, his incredible talent (that he managed to pass onto his family), his lust for life and his passion. And what’s even harder is that a lot of the people I talk to have no idea who Tony Curtis is. This is a legend of Hollywood, whose face and figure are printed on overpasses on the 101 – whose legendary status continued through the years, through his painting, through his absolute joy of life.

If you haven’t got a chance, read American Prince. Not only does it illustrate why Tony Curtis was one of the greatest actors of his generation – it illustrates a basic principle that surprisingly few possess that more should – go for it. If you have a dream, if you have a passion, if you something you’ve put on the back burner to stew around for a few years, don’t let it sit.

Get up and do it.

Curtis left behind a legacy of classic movies, a daughter who did the same, paintings, grandchildren, and a myriad of fans – all of whom will miss him.
