LeBron James is the epitome of money not being able to buy you class. Money can, however, buy you a team with three superstars so you can emulate the Bulls of the mid-90’s.
But it still can’t buy you a diamond muzzle so you avoid putting your foot in your mouth when you say things to the press. Such as that the backlash the resulted from calling a press conference to announce your abandonment of your home city to the sunny ports of Miami for a more easy time playing and a better tan.
Naturally, there will be a backlash for such an ego-driven move. But what does LeBron blame it on, primarily? Racism. That’s right. Racism. I hope we can live to see the day where we see a black man make it in the NBA.
Obviously, racism has nothing to do with the backlash against LeBron. Besides the rumors swirling around that Delonte West reamed his mom, the fact that no other athlete in history has announced a press conference preceding his move to a team with two other superstars, and the fact that he was located in Cleveland – one scale above Detroit on the city sucktitude meter all factored in.
Also, an inability to see his own weaknesses. Which this is. The Greeks called it hubris.
