By AAyles on September 23rd, 2010

Jose Bautista, the popular outfielder for the Toronto Blue Jays, has officially made history and is now the 26th player in Major League history to reach 50 home runs in one season.

Bautista joins the likes of legendary players like Babe Ruth and Sammy Sosa and has surpassed George Bell’s record for home runs by a Blue Jays player which was set at 47 in 1987.

Jose was sitting at 49 homers for the past three games and many were wondering if he had one more in him this season. The strong hitter proved his ability this afternoon with a first-inning shot off Felix Hernandez in a game against the Seattle Mariners.
