Florida Star Chris Rainey Lands in the Clink

Gator bait, Gator bait… he said what in a text?

Chris Rainey, a key to the Florida Gator’s offensive success (it seemed they just found it last week vs. USF), had a little somethin-somethin’ go down last night at the residence of his girlfriend. Well. She may be referred to more accurately as the girl he sees, because friends don’t generally threaten to kill one another.

After arriving at her place, and being told to leave, he let her know that he wasn’t going anywhere, and that he would bust the window to get in and talk.

This was after he had called and texted her from outside her door for quite some time. Eventually Rainey was asked to leave the premises, and one has to assume that he was pissed–as he left he texted  his sweetie-pie, “Time to die [naughty word] u and ur???”

While most gals would love such a declaration of passion, she didn’t take kindly to it, and called the police. Once the police arrived, they asked her to contact Rainey so they could talk to him. According to Rainey’s girlfriend, this didn’t sit well with the football star. Apparently Rainey then told her, “Wait and see what happens when they leave,” though Rainey has denied ever saying this. He did admit to the romantic text, however.

Rainey was arrested for aggravated stalking, which is so much more advanced criminally than plain old harassment. The University and coach Urban Meyer have been tight lipped since the incident, and it’s unsure whether Rainey will be punished for this weekend’s SEC opener vs. rival Tennessee. And you Florida fans wonder why coach Meyer’s heart is bad…
