Bill Maher Gets Star In Hollywood — Makes Outrageous Claims

Today, Bill Maher got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

They referred to him as a political satirist – which I suppose is how he makes his living. But calling Bill Maher a political satirist is like calling a porn star sexy – there’s no way, unless they find a balance of subtlety. And Bill Maher has the subtlety of an army of sledgehammers wielded by rushing bulldozers.

He’s also landed in the news recently for casting distrustful allegations at the Emmy voters – claiming that despite the landslide of nominations Real Time with Bill Maher – the show has never won an Emmy simply because Bill Maher is a staunch atheist with outspoken views. I don’t think the Emmy voters particularly care whether or not somebody is an atheist, Jewish, or worships a child-god with burning amber eyes. Just as long as they keep providing money for the studios who finance their shows and quality content.

Real Time with Bill Maher has never won an Emmy because it’s consistently voted in out of pity, then has the hell beaten out of it by better produced and more well-written fare such as The Daily Show, and The Colbert Report. Because those are the kind of shows that should be awarded for quality. Not a panel that extends a pointlessly large ego.

So congratulations, Bill.
