One of the most exciting matches of this year’s US Open didn’t take place on the court. Instead it all went down in the stands, and took place between some mouthy young guy, and essentially all of the people sitting near him.
The fight broke out during a match between the third-seeded, Novak Djokovic of Serbia and Phillipp Petzschner of Germany.
A young guy gets into a shouting match with a woman sitting near him. After they exchange words, an older man steps in to try and place the young guy in what appears to be some sort of headlock – and that’s when it starts to get pretty crazy.
The old dude falls over some seats, and then the woman slaps the young guy. He tries to get away from the situation, but other people in the stands prevent the young guy from leaving until security arrives.

Though the crowd begins calling for the young guy to get kicked out, TMZ reports that ultimately no arrests were made.
Djokovich won the match.

I freakin' love the US Open. I remember attending in 2001, and Neil Patrick Harris being in the stands on balmy September evening... Every time it got quiet during change overs this one dude would shout: "DOOGIE HOWSER..." Neil left. Hysterical.

The young guy throws the old dude down some stairs, and then roughs up the woman a little. He tries to flee, but other people in the stands prevent the young guy from leaving until security arrives. THIS IS THE MOST RETARDED THING I'VE EVER READ. They clearly both fell over. There was no "throwing" involved. The woman went to physically assault the man and he pushes her away after having got up from falling down the stairs to prevent injury to himself. THERE IS NO OBVIOUS ATTEMPT TO FLEE. ARE YOU MAD CAN YOU NOT SE HIM STANDING THERE, STILL WITH HIS CHIVALRY AND USING VERBAL METHODS RATHER THAN PHYSICAL. Also, it is evident that the others who intervened were the ones roughing the youth up for his attempt at self defence. How did you become a news writer. Honestly Heather? Did you bother doing the slightest piece of investigation? In another video, you can see that the woman, to put it politely, slapped the young man, who then, despite the fury EVIDENT in his face, just laughed it off. That by itself deserves praise, as it's already a heated situation, and hitting someone back is the instinctive thing to do. But he didn't. So then, Chubby and Pop head back to their seats, the Scout takes his seat again, and then Pop comes over, jumps him, grabs his face, and then falls over one or two rows of seats. The young guy climbs off, tries to go back to his seat, where the woman goes for him, and tries to grab his neck, so he pushes her off. Then everyone JUMPS on him! Were they all blind? Are YOU!? Are we to take it that because the woman is a woman and because the guy is old they should never have physical force used upon them? Completely ridiculous. This guy instigated nothing, acted only in self defense, and was crucified for it. I suggest you owe several apologies. One to the young guy, and the rest to your readers, for doing such a shoddy job at this.

The old couple had no right to physically assault the guy, the proper thing to do would've just been to ignore him and keep your cool, instead the woman slapped him for no reason, multiple times and the old guy even tried to gouge his eyes out, which is completely uncalled for and whatever happened to him after that would have been what he deserves. And even then the young man kept his cool and tried to just push him off and also the woman who tried to attack him again. And then of course the crowd would have some old bastard try to be a hero and assault the young man AGAIN while having NO association to what is going on at all. I hope the young man sues them all out of their retirement homes.

In another video somebody started filming earlier you can clearly see the woman slapping him, but he doesn't lay a finger on her. After he sits down and they walk away the old man walks back and is the one who made the first move. The young man then reacted the same way most people would and fought back. Sure he's a douchebag but he didn't get violent until they did. In my opinion that older couple are the ones at fault.

Why don't you actually watch the videos, Heather. The younger guy may have been cursing and being obnoxious, but the lady and elderly man initiated the physical violence. THEY assaulted HIM.
