There are a number of advertisements that have caused controversy over the years – only to be replayed later in hilarious clip shows hosted by Tom Bergeron.
But billboards have caused controversy much less. I remember when I was younger, there was a mural of Dennis Rodman up in Chicago that for some reason, would cause traffic to stop. People would stop and watch his hair change colors, blocking the passage of cars, and disallowing people from getting to their jobs. Because a dude kept changing the hair of a mural.
People are weird. A billboard in New Zealand that promoted road safety would cry blood when it rained – but Americans are up in arms over a billboard…for a movie?
Will Ferrell and Adam McKay are about to release a low-budget movie about teenagers losing their virginity through their company, Gary Sanchez productions, and people are up in arms. Because it advertises a toll-free number people can call where they can get advice about their virginity. That’s right. We’re so indignant in our day to day lives, we get irritated when a billboard mentions people losing their virginity, even though it happens everyday. Obviously, people who call the number are referred to a recording that gives them humorous suggestions as to what they could do, and then plugs the movie, but local politicians have complained wherever the billboards have popped up.
The teen pregnancy rate in America is one of the highest in the world right now. Just sayin’.

I have no commentary about the movie itself but you can be very sure that the movie is not kid porn no matter how young the actors look.
