John Mayer is probably the pinnacle of contemporary douchebaggery. Swirl in a modicum of musical ability and an appreciation of modern technology, and you have a perfect specimen of post-modernism in a celebrity.
And apparently he gets really angry when people write about him. But not angry in a normal way, where he just stays un-reactive and quietly muses. The best kind of angry. Where you write a letter on the internet, insulting a multi-million dollar blogging network that speculates that maybe you got back together with your ex-girlfriend. The Huffington Post published an article speculating that John Mayer got together with Jennifer Aniston after he said something about redemption at a concert.
Now, I know some of us might want for the riches that allows for popular blog networks to speculate about our relationships, but really? You respond to some internet allegations by writing more about yourself on the internet?
I don’t think celebrities need publicists anymore. Just give them a phone, modern technology, and watch them generate enough e-rope to hang themselves with. I hope every blog writes about John Mayer for the next ten years, daily. Hopefully he’ll rage so hard, the internet will designate a corner for his missives. That no-one will visit.
