There are so many closet cases in the Republican party, they might as well open a section in IKEA. George W. Bush’s campaign manager has come out.
That’s right, America. The man who was responsible for getting the vote out in 2000, where Bush defeated Gore on a number of issues, including denying gay people their rights – just came out of the closet. He came out of the closet. The man who helped George W. Bush get elected to a second term came out of the closet. His name was Ken Mehlman, and he headed the Republican National Committee between 2005 and 2007, before Mike Duncan, Mel Martinez, and then Michael Steele took over.
During his run, the Republican party promoted an aggressive agenda of denying the LGBT community their rights, their lunch money, and their marriage certificates. Fun times.
But between the RNC sponsoring trips to West Hollywood bondage clubs, hiring people who are in the closet, hitting on congressional pages, trying to get blown in bathroom stalls, it sounds like a wild time for those people who are into self-loathing kinksters. Seriously. The RNC sounds like it’d be a better place to hang out than if the seeking section in Craigslist were personified in a building attached to a kink-alley.
Congratulations for being honest with the world, Mr. Mehlman.
