Warner Brothers Sues Makers of ‘Harry Popper’ Condoms

IHarry Poppert’s all fun and games until someone sticks Harry Popper into the Goblet of Fire.

Warner Brothers is suing a Swiss Condom company for copyright infringement regarding their “Harry Poppers” condom brand.  According to Swiss newspaper, Bote (via The Guardian), a studio lawyer said, “The image of my client is in danger.  This is clearly a reference to the film and fictional character of Harry Potter.  Everyone who sees the condoms automatically thinks of Harry Potter.”

Both Warner Brothers and JK Rowling have earned reputations for protecting their product.  As the studio prepares for the launch of the final two-part finale of the Harry Potter series, and a rumored new video game based on the films in the works, they are standing firm that the “Harry Popper” condoms could negatively affect Harry Potter’s image.

However, the condom’s manufacturers, Magic X, are also not backing down.  “Our product has nothing to do with Harry Potter,” a company spokesperson said.  But it sure does give new meaning to the phrase, “want to see my magic wand?”
