The most likely to leave you with a not-so-nice surprise on your hard drive – Cameron Diaz. The actress has topped McAffee Software Security Firm’s annual, “Most Dangerous Celebrity List,” a round-up of the celebrity search terms most likely to generate malware-ridden results.
According to Dave Marcus, a security researcher for McAfee Labs, “This year, the search results for celebrities are safer than they’ve been in previous years, but there are still dangers when searching online. Cybercriminals are getting sneakier in their techniques. Now they’re hiding malicious content in ‘tiny’ places like shortened URLs that can spread virally in social networking sites and Twitter, instead of on websites and downloads.”
