Pretty much every nutritionist agrees that fast food is the bane of existence, and you should never eat it, no matter how many deserted islands you’ve been trapped on, how much oil you drink daily, or how invulnerable your immune system is.
And now? A new course of action is being recommended. A course of action that’ll make you laugh hard and heartily. That fast food restaurants should offer drugs alongside their meals. Namely, statins, the cholesterol lowering drugs that have had a colored history with affecting the liver and contributing to muscle problems. A new report by the American Journal of Cardiology says it’d be a good idea, and I’m sure pharmaceutical companies are stroking their chins and their maniacal kittens thinking of a world where their drugs can be distributed side-by-side with a Big Mac or a Whopper. Seriously. Fast food is a billion dollar industry, but if they’re going to distribute drugs – we need to legalize pot. How close would to a Brave New World if McDonald’s sold you joints, burgers, and statins, so you could buy all of them in the same run?
I would support it. Just because it’s so surreal. But don’t eat at McDonald’s, and you won’t have to down drugs to breathe properly. Pretty simple.

Ladies and Gentlemen, allow us to announce a new facet of one stop shopping. Gone are the days when a doctor will advise you to make life style changes to improve your health, instead you will be able to order your Lipitor with a side of Burger and Fries! Talk about a new marketing ploy! Drug reps will now be spending time at your favourite fast food chains and take-away stores, pushing their ‘quick fix’ drugs to medically uneducated burger ‘flippers’ and salt shaker fillers. http://just-me-in-t-health.blogspot.com/2010/08/one-stop-shopping.html

I am the medical researcher responsible for this study. If you read the actual study, you will see that we are very clearly statin that people should NOT eat these unhealthy foods. But what of people who ignore this good advice? Do we do nothing for them? The study takes great effort to point out that statins (although carrying risks) are safer than the fast food itself! If anyone, having read the study (rather than only second hand reports) has comments on any errors in its calculation or reasoning, then I (and the journal) are open to hearing of them.

Damn straight, you do nothing for them! They have the opportunity to make that decision, and I suppose you have the opportunity to allow dollar signs to rotate in your eyes... Here's some calculation and reasoning, Darrel "troll" Francis - there are no genuine needs for statins in the first place, if people would be willing to eat foods that they don't always "like."
