PGA Championship 2010

The action is underway at the 2010 PGA Championship, and guess who is climbing toward the top of the leaderboard?

Sure, it’s way too early to start predicting winners, but doesn’t it figure that even after playing like ME last weekend, Tiger Woods is still a favorite to take this thing.

The 2010 edition of the PGA Championship is being played at Whistling Straits, in Kohler, Wisconsin. This links style course plays over 7,800 yards and calls upon expert placement through the air. A worm-burner like myself would probably opt for a swim in the lake after a few frustrating holes, the course lining the soft shores of Lake Michigan.

Pushing into midday, several players are underway. At present the leaders are sitting at -3. Among those leaders–Tiger Woods.

I’ve remained quiet about the Tiger saga. I shook my head and rolled my eyes months ago as mistress after mistress came out of the woodwork. I’m over it now. I’m ready to see him doing the things he does best on the golf course. I’m ready to see other players frustrated as they chase him, and playing with a healthy dose of fear when he plays just a few strokes back of them.

I know people want to hate Tiger, and will hate him for his poor plays off the course, but that ain’t me. Any grudge I could hold would have to be pretty petty, or pretty artificial, considering I don’t know the guy. It’s the easiest thing in the world to say what he did was wrong, but I prefer to see people succeed, especially after experiencing tough personal times. Call me a softy.

The PGA Championship is being carried by TNT and CBS, and doesn’t golf just look amazing in HD? After today’s coverage, it’ll be about time to get the NFL pre-season underway. It’s a good sports day, Manolith dudes…and chicks…who like Manolith.
