The Other Guys Win The Weekend

It’s like, a Hollywood studio executive had a dream that one of the summer’s top movies would be a non-franchise art-movie supported by big budgets and better actors. And that dream would be crushed by Will Ferrell’s testicles.

That dream is real. The testicles are real. Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg are real, unless Marky Mark is just a fictitious construct of everything I could ever want a celebrity to be – ironic rap icon, clothing model, and producer of one of the most conflict-free shows on television. It’s like, every easy job you could ever have rolled up into one convenient wiggery package.

The Other Guys finally managed to wrestle the top spot  away from Inception, a movie which has held the top spot for about 4 weeks – a throwback to the times when summer blockbusters didn’t plummet like a rock after the first week, men wore attractive suits, and filmmakers made movies with cohesive, interesting plots about ideas that didn’t have cats and Will Smith’s kids in sunglasses.

Also opening this week, as an example of the problem? Step Up 3D. Where you wore 3D glasses and watched assclowns dance to save their rec center. The saddest part? They couldn’t even afford Channing Tatum in the latest installment. He’s moved past the Step Up franchise.
